Program Banner 2017 Bee a Reader SummerFest

Welcome to this year's Summerfest! There’s a reading program for everyone – babies, kids, teens and adults. Signing up is easy. Click “register" below to get started.

Parents: If you would like to create a Family Account, please register yourself first and then register your children under your account.

If your kids' grades start sliding in school, you sit up and take notice. In the summer, it's harder to realize when reading skills are evaporating. Make reading a team effort this summer and beat the summer slide with fun, games and learning.

Collect prizes at 300, 600, 900 and 1200 minutes of playful, learning fun. Once you hit 1200 minutes you are also entered into the grand prize drawings.

It only takes 20 minutes a day to stay on track. Rack up some reading hours at fun library reading events to rescue your efforts if they start to wane, oh, about mid-July. You can wade out of that heat-haze into the sweet AC at the library.

On Blockbuster Wednesdays, new performers entice kids into the library for laughter, dancing and lots of checkouts.

And, remember, the library is on your team! Hit us up at Instagram or Twitter for instant feedback and virtual high fives.

How it Works:

  • Register for an account.
  • Log in to your account, record your reading, and explore other ways to earn points.
  • Play games, watch videos and win prizes (kids birth to 18 years old only)!
  • For more details, click on the tab for your program.

Important Dates:

  • May 1 - Registration begins
  • June 1 - Summerfest begins; start tracking
  • July 31 Summerfest ends; all time must be recorded
  • August 1 - Grand prize drawings and winners notified

Everyone can do it
Babies, toddlers, preschoolers, children, teens, adults — everyone! Parents and caretakers can register pre-readers and count the time they listen to stories read aloud.

Read however you like
Time spent listening to audiobooks or someone reading aloud counts toward your goal. So does reading comic books, magazines and ebooks.

Attend library events
To maximize your reading time, plan to attend Readapalooza, Storytimes and other special events at the library all summer. Take a look at all our special Summerfest events.

All it takes is 20 minutes a day

Make the library a routine destination this summer, or download ebooks and audiobooks online. Librarians are standing by to suggest great stories to any age group and you can access suggestions online, too.

It's easy to read 20 minutes a day. For very young children and struggling readers, that can be spread out through the day.

Use online games and track your reading to unlock cool new game levels, activities and badges.
